Jim Sasse has been painting since he was 14 years old and professionally since 1993. He attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida and Memphis College of Art for his BFA. He then attended University of Georgia for his Masters of Fine Art. Several years later he attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for his masters in Anthropology. Jim painted portraits for Portraits South and then branched off to do local scenes of Appalachia. He enjoys focusing on details and textures, and unusual compositions to cause the viewer to study objects in unique ways. He loves to examine an object very closely and render it very accurately. Jim has been represented by Gallery 1401 and River Gallery in Chattanooga, TN and Mountain Mist Gallery in Cashiers, NC. He lives on Signal Mountain with his wife, Susan. The Sasses have two grown children.
